Hi All,
My new book “When The Heavens Went on Sale” comes out in May. The NYT was kind enough to notice today, and the first major review has arrived as well.
I’ll try and keep the shilling to a moderate level (Ed: Will you, really?), but one must do some self-promoting after spending five - yes, five - years working on something like this.
The book is all about the rise of commercial space. To report it, I traveled around the world and think I came back with some extraordinary stories. You will laugh. You will cry. And I think you’ll be quite amazed by what’s going on over our heads and in our collective souls.
As things stand in the publishing world these days, books can thrive or die based on pre-orders. If you’ve enjoyed my work over the years and have interest in the book, please do grab it now. Please also buy it if you despise me or have no real feelings toward me or my writing. It’s pretty and will light up any room.
Your delayed instant gratification with the pre-order will go some way to lessening my existential dread and self-loathing, which, okay, is not the best sales pitch, but it’s all very true.
To make the prospect of a pre-order (possibly) more alluring, I’ve partnered with three indie book stores to have signed first editions available. You can buy the book, pop onto my web site here, drop your receipt copy in the form, and join in on some private virtual book tour events. The same virtual tour deal goes for books bought via Amazon and other fine stores, although those copies, while still awesome, are not signed.
You can find the signed copies at -
In return for my shilling, I bring content.
Here’s my recent feature on Bryan Johnson, who is spending millions of dollars to try and become 18 again. (This story appears well on its way to becoming the basis of a documentary film. More on that soon.)
Also, a start-up is trying to get us to zero emission flights via hydrogen planes.
Robots are doing the work of blacksmiths.
And building-sized 3D printers are arriving.
Thanks!!!
Shill away. You earned it. 👏 So glad you decided to write about this topic.
Congrats! Looking forward to reading it -- or listening to it. And if it's not too late, and if you can face doing this: please, please, please read the audiobook yourself. You have a great voice (sincerely).
